Let us not seek the Republican answer or the Democratic answer, but the right answer. Let us not seek to fix the blame for the past. Let us accept our own responsibility for the future. John F. Kennedy

I recently published a blog (see Biden Tall Poppies Himself) regarding President Biden cutting himself down by his hubris. I also wrote about the journalists' dichotomy as cutters or cuttees (see Journalism as Cutter and Cuttee in the Tall Poppy Syndrome). Little did I know that Biden himself and the Democratic Party would cut Biden down, not the Republican Party and/or the populace.

From The New York Times on July 19, 2024, "Secluded in Rehoboth, Biden Stews at Allies’ Pressure to Drop Out of the Race":

Sick with Covid and abandoned by allies, President Biden has been fuming at his Delaware beach house, increasingly resentful about what he sees as an orchestrated campaign to drive him out of the race and bitter toward some of those he once considered close, including his onetime running mate Barack Obama.

Also from the same paper and date, "The Roots of Biden’s Defiance: Anger, Fear, Pride and Regret":

The seeds of President Biden’s reaction to the Democratic Party’s crisis of confidence in him were planted years ago.
Facing an extraordinary push by his friends and allies to end his political career, Mr. Biden has responded with defiance. For three weeks he has dug in, denied polling evidence and vowed to stay in the race, claiming that he is the only one who can defeat former President Donald J. Trump. Only in the last few days have people close to him said they believe he is more receptive to stepping down.

In the end, I am not surprised. The Democratic Machine steered the Democratic nomination to Hillary Clinton over the front-runner Bernie Sanders in 2016. This same group denied blue-blooded Democrat Robert F. Kennedy Jr. access to the 2024 Democratic primary.

It is acknowledged that other governments rig candidates denying the populace's choices, but so do we.

We have met the enemy and he is us. Pogo
