Astronomer is a New York-based technology and data operations company specializing in data and artificial intelligence platforms. It was founded in 2017 and has 325 employees, with an estimated annual revenue of $52.5 million.

Andy Byron is the former CEO of Astronomer and is not a professional astronomer. Byron gained significant media attention and controversy in July 2025 after he was filmed embracing Astronomer’s chief people officer at a Coldplay concert at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.  The incident was widely shared online after the pair appeared on the concert’s "kiss cam," sparking immediate speculation and rumors on the internet.

Coldplay is a British rock band formed in London in the late 1990s, consisting of four members. Chris Martin is the lead vocalist and piano player. They are widely regarded for their melodic, piano-driven sound and energetic live performances.

In January 2024, the band started including fan videos in its shows as a way to greet its fans. Witty comments and mini-songs proved to be popular. On July 16, the camera caught our infamous couple canoodling. When the image was broadcast, Byron squatted out of view, and his partner turned her back to the camera.

Martin said, "Either they are having an affair or they're just very shy."

Let the games begin! Willing adults versus the company's CEO and HR head, who are supposed to avoid romantic involvement according to most companies' and society's accepted rules of the game.

The next morning, the most searched phrase on Google was the Astronomer's CEO's name." Byron was a married father of two. His companion was divorced. The company launched an inquiry, and the next day, Byran resigned. His partner was placed on administrative leave and subsequently resigned.

Pride is one of the most common reasons for a TP takedown, followed by lust and greed (see Anatomy of the TALL POPPY SYNDROME ).

Hypocrisy can be held by both the cutter and the cuttee (see Hypocrisy, Harvard, Francesca Gino, and the Tall Poppy Syndrome). Within the context of cancel culture, the CEO is assumed to believe that rules apply to employees, not to them.

The cutter culture has forgotten Jesus's phrase "let the first person without sin cast the first stone" (John 8:7). Where is the empathy? No winners! Ruined lives! Oh well, anything for my cause and to boost my self-esteem.

Schadenfreude was also off the viral chart. It reflects the pleasure and satisfaction that come with the downfall of the powerful, wealthy, and hypocritical, as projected in the CEO and his hypocritical human resources employee (a double whammy - double the pleasure). Self-reflection? Who is the hypocrite?

Cutters should spend less time searching the internet for schadenfreude and more time on personal growth, becoming a better person.

TPS has harmful effects on everyone involved. Cutters become trapped in cycles of negativity, cuttees experience psychological and social harm, and society as a whole is weakened by a culture that often punishes success instead of celebrating it.
